KNews.id – Anies Rasyid Baswedan, presidential candidate number 1, took advantage of the 20th day of the campaign period, Sunday (17/12/2023), to greet residents in Aceh. The Nasdem party as one of the political parties supporting Anies-Muhaimin Iskandar hopes to achieve a coattail effect (increasing votes from the influence of figures) from the candidacy following Anies’ campaign in Aceh. In this way, the DPR seat from Nasdem that was lost in the 2019 elections can be reclaimed.
Arriving in Aceh on Sunday afternoon, Anies attended the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW and Habib Muhammad’s grand celebration in East Aceh. Anies then took part in a hanging out event with youth and micro, small and medium business actors in Langsa City. Anies’ campaign in Aceh closed with a meeting with oil palm farmers in Aceh Tamiang.
Vice Chairman of the Nasdem Party, Ahmad Ali, stated that the public needs to familiarize themselves with the presidential candidate (capres) who will be elected on February 14, 2024. Therefore, Nasdem brought Anies to campaign in “Bumi Serambi Mekkah” so that the public could become more familiar with the capres supported by Nasdem, the National Awakening Party (PKB), and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS).
He stated that Indonesia is a country with a majority of Muslim population. However, Indonesian society is also diverse and thus requires a leader who can nurture all diverse groups of the community.
Furthermore, Nasdem has nominated a presidential candidate who is in accordance with the wishes of the people, including those desired by the people of Aceh. Therefore, they are urging the people of Aceh to also vote for Nasdem in the legislative election.
Especially in the 2019 Election, Nasdem lost all of its parliamentary seats. However, in the 2014 Election, Nasdem obtained two parliamentary seats, respectively from the Aceh I and Aceh II electoral districts.
“I represent the Nasdem Party and I have experienced the victory in Aceh during the 2014 elections. However, in the 2019 elections, the Acehnese people punished Nasdem for proposing a leader who was not desired by the community,” said Ahmad Ali.
When attending the Maulid of Prophet Muhammad SAW and the third anniversary of Habib Muhammad bin Ahmad Al Athas in Ba’alawi Mosque, East Aceh, Anies offered changes for Aceh residents to rise from poverty. He wants Aceh to prosper again so that the residents can thrive. The community must enjoy the wealth of natural resources so that it can bring prosperity to the surrounding residents.
“Aceh is one of the areas that feels the impact of the lack of justice in policies. However, the community should feel the prosperity of the natural resources we have. That’s why change is needed and change requires authority,” said Anies.
Aceh is one of the provinces that is a priority for the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar campaign. Last week, Muhaimin campaigned in Aceh on Tuesday-Wednesday (5-6/12/2023) in several areas in Aceh. Muhaimin even targets 95 percent of voters in Aceh to choose presidential and vice presidential candidates number 1.
