Sunarso does not Want to Neglect to Make Profits

KNews.id- The Covid-19 pandemic has also had an impact on the country's banking sector. This impact was also felt by PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk. As is known, the company recorded a consolidated net profit in the first 9 months of this year reaching Rp. 14.12 trillion, or down 43% compared to the same period last year of Rp. 24.78 trillion.
Based on the financial statements for the third quarter of 2020 which were just published this Wednesday (11/11), the net profit for Bank BRI in the 9 months to September 2020 period reached IDR 14.05 trillion, also down 43.27% from the same period last year. then IDR 24.77 trillion.
In the midst of the recent stock performance which began to show a positive trend, the President Director of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, Sunarso, told of the steps the company had taken.
"Actually, we are being very careful in managing the balance sheet and also the NPL. So the profit just goes down, then we have to reserve quite a lot and that reflects caution, "he said in a webinar on BUMN media talk with the topic" Banking Support for the Economy in a Pandemic Period "which was held on Wednesday (2/12). "And then we are not reckless to book profits aggressively but we think that the situation is still not safe so we have to provide sufficient cushion," continued Sunarso.

He is then grateful that investors appreciate investors' caution. This is indicated by the increasing trend of BBRI shares. On this day, BRI's shares increased 1.42% to the level of Rp 4,300.

"This means that I can conclude that these investors are more bankers than bankers themselves. That's the most important thing. I think the positive point is that they are also very careful,”said Sunarso.

"Sustainability is what is valued higher than just posting profits but in what is called the risk management is not good, the way the book is not good, that's the first point I caught from Mr. Tiko earlier because Mr. Tiko also said that stocks had started investors responded well, "he continued.
