Ribka Tjiptaning: Actually, Sinovac Vaccine for Junked Goods in China

KNews.id- Member of the House of Representatives Commission IX from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Ribka Tjiptaning likened the Covid-19 vaccine made by Sinovac to junk from his home country, China. According to him, the Chinese people did not use the corona virus vaccine.

“Incidentally I also have many friends in China, what is the term Sinovac actually, junk goods for there, Chinese people rarely use what Sinovac actually does,” he said in a working meeting of Commission IX together with the Minister of Health, Head of BPOM, and President Director of PT Biofarma (Persero), Wednesday (13/1).

Sinovac is the Covid-19 vaccine used in the inaugural vaccination program in Indonesia which starts today. The government has brought in as many as three million doses of Sinovac vaccine and 15 million doses in raw or bulk form.

In this vaccination program, President Joko Widodo was the first person who was injected with the Sinovac vaccine. During the meeting, Ribka also commented on giving the first vaccine to the head of state.

According to him, the government must ensure the safety of the Sinovac vaccine. This is because people’s access to health facilities has been very limited during the pandemic if something undesirable occurs in the worst scheme.

“You said that Pak Jokowi was such a demonstrative example, being injected in the first person, we all know, if for example it is Sinovac, but if there is anything (to Jokowi) how many doctors will follow, the hospital is ready, but later (residents). the one at the other end, even people who have Covid, find it difficult to find a hospital. And it could be that it wasn’t the Sinovac who was given, we don’t know everything, don’t lie between us, “she said.

Apart from Jokowi, there were a number of other participants in the first phase of the vaccine, who came from community leaders and representatives from all walks of life. Some of them are IDI Chairman Daeng M. Faqih, MUI Secretary General and Muhammadiyah Amirsyah Tambunan representative, a celebrity representing young Raffi Ahmad.

There is also a group of entrepreneurs who are the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rosan Roeslani, to the labor representative Agustini Setiyorini, and so on. At the DPR RI Commission IX work meeting Tuesday (12/1), Riba firmly refused to be vaccinated against covid-19. He admitted that he chose to pay a fine instead of being injected with the Covid-19 vaccine. Ribka doubts the Covid-19 vaccine.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Head of BPOM Penny Lukito, and Director of PT Bio Farma (Persero) Honesti Basyir. The Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) officially issued an emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Sinovac vaccine on Monday (11/1).

The permit for use was issued after the BPOM evaluation results showed that Sinovac had an efficacy of 65.3 percent. This figure is considered in accordance with the standards or efficacy threshold set by the World Health Organization (WHO), which is at least 50 percent. (AHM)
