KNews.id- Police, Tuesday morning at around 3:00 am in Sukabumi, arrested AM (23), one of three suspects of the killer of the famous painter Basoeki Abdullah, who was found dead at his home on Friday morning (5/11). Two other suspects each Wah (37) gardener as well as the mastermind of the murder and Dul (23) a security guard Jl Langsat, is now in detention by the Jakarta Police.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Mayjen Pol. Drs. Moch Hindarto, who was summoned by President Soeharto at the Merdeka Palace, on Tuesday morning, stated that the motive for the murder was just an ordinary robbery, not a matter of inheritance or family orders from the victim as previously thought.
Hindarto who came to the Merdeka Palace to attend the awarding ceremony for the title of National Hero and Bintang Mahaputera Adi Pradana and the Main Mahaputera was called by the Head of State to explain the handling of this case. When Hindarto delivered his report, Mrs. Tien Soeharto, Vice President Try Sutrisno and Mrs. Tuti Sutrisno also listened to the explanation.
Hindarto said at the occasion, the Vice President ordered the ranks of the Jakarta Police to resolve the murder of a famous painter. Chronology of Arrest In a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya after reporting to the President, Hindarto explained at length about the arrest operation against the perpetrators led directly by the South Jakarta Police Chief Lieutenant Colonel Drs. In detail, Hindarto explained that AM and his accomplice on October 24 planned a theft at the Basoeki gallery on Jl.Sisingamangaraja, but failed. Barn one day before the November 14 stairs incident, AM, a recidivist, planned the theft at the victim’s house. Wah then gave a picture of the situation of the victim’s house and the painter’s family habits. For example, the gate of the house was never locked, the victim’s bedroom was always open, the victim’s wife on the second floor, and the habit of the victim’s security guard who liked to sleep late.
That same day AM, accompanied by Wah, surveyed the location on Jl. Finance Raya, Cilandak, South Jakarta. Early on Friday 5 November, AM entered the victim’s house by jumping from the house next door. After successfully entering, AM was interested in going down to the bottom floor via stairs, but because he saw a number of dogs, AM was forced to undo it.
He then tried to find another way and found a gap between the garage and the kitchen. Through the gap AM went down to the lower floor and because of the narrow AM the wound on the left cheek. At that time AM felt thirsty, but he did not dare to open the fridge, and took the apples in the kitchen. AM had eaten the apple a few bites, but because of the rush the apple was thrown away.
He returned to the top floor to find a way out. After finding a road that was considered safe, AM then went to the victim’s room which was never locked. At the time of squatting to reach the clock in the victim’s cupboard, Basoeki Abdullah woke up and caught the perpetrators while shouting “thief”.
Hit with a Rifle
Because of nervous AM immediately took the rifle in the victim’s room and hit the victim’s head. Basoeki immediately fell down, but saw the victim still alive AM once swinging the gun into the nape of the victim until it broke. After making sure the victim died, AM who managed to steal a number of antique watches and cash amounting to Rp.200,000, came out of Basoeki’s room and went back up to the second floor and immediately ran away through a lightning rod.
Before escaping, AM, whose clothes were sprinkled with blood, had worn Basoeki’s pajamas. By taxi, around 05.00 WIB, AM escaped to Jl.-Langsat, where Wah and Dul waited. In the empty house guarded by Dul who works as a security guard, AM cleans up and then they scatter. AM returned to his home in the Gandaria area, but at 07.00 he returned to Jl. Langsat and met An, another recidivist, to market the stolen hours. AM, feeling uneasy, then went to Ciputat, to the home of her boyfriend’s family.
But his girlfriend was not there because he was on Cicurug, Sukabumi. AM followed there and the police based on information from the family of his girlfriend, immediately arrested AM in Sukabumi at 03.00 WIB. These watches were sold on November 6, 1993 to a number of street vendors in Jatinegara Market. The police then confiscated the victim’s belongings.
Wah’s gardener, who had been suspected by the police from the beginning, was immediately secured the day after the incident. Meanwhile Dul Security was arrested in Brebes a few days after the incident. Regarding the motive for the murder, the Kapolda repeatedly stated that it had nothing to do with inheritance issues or family disputes, but the mummy robbery on the basis of wanting to take control of the victim’s property.
Based on the perpetrator’s confession, it turns out they did not know that the victim he killed was a famous painter who had been a painter of a number of heads of state and heads of government. They only knew that the victim was a rich man who had a lot of cash in his closet and had dozens of antique watches that cost expensive.

Commenting on the arrest of the perpetrators of the murder of the grandchildren of the national movement leader Dr. Wahidin Soedirohoesodo, former YLBHI Director Abdul Hakim Garuda Nusantara, said that whoever the suspect was must be accompanied by a defender from the start. The judge said this because in the Criminal Procedure Code it was stated that the suspect was allowed to reject all the allegations addressed to him and reject the evidence.
In addition, he also pointed out many cases where the suspect was not accompanied by a defense attorney. He stated that it was necessary for the suspect to be accompanied by a legal defender in relation to the many issues circulating regarding inheritance documents and bed separation between Basoeki Abdullah and his wife before the police found the suspect.
According to him, the LBH is most likely willing to defend the suspect. Chairperson of the Indonesian Criminology Bachelor Association (HISKI) Dra.Purnianti Mangunsong, said from the beginning he suspected that the culprit must be someone who knew the family of the victim.
That, he said, based on his observations of murder cases in Indonesia, especially those involving famous people, the perpetrators were close people, could be his family or people around the family such as close friends or employees of the victims. Purnianti praised the success of the police who succeeded in uncovering the case in a short time, namely only four days after the incident.
