The Crown Prince’s Throne Is Contested Amidst The Pain Of The King

KNews.id- The struggle for the throne of Saudi Arabia is now heating up after the news that King Salman was being treated at King Faisal Hospital. The struggle for this throne revolves around the current crown prince’s seat which is now held by Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) with the previous crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Prince Muhammad bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz al Saud.

Muhammad bin Nayef was then deposed from the throne of the crown prince of Saudi Arabia in 2017. The coup that occurred at that time also involved SBM to successfully occupy the post of crown prince of Saudi Arabia.

Twitter also became heated in the midst of a polemic over the crown prince seat and the illness of King Salman. Muhammad bin Nayef who wanted to reclaim his throne was accused of corruption.

“Mohammed Bin Nayef allows the corruption network run by al Jabri (Muhammad bin Nayef’s aide who is also an intelligence officer) to operate,” wrote one of the trending jokes, as quoted by CNBC Indonesia, Wednesday (7/22).

Reuters sources say the emergence of this case is not without reason. An unnamed diplomat said this was an attempt to depose Muhammad bin Nayef in the succession to the throne. The attack, claimed to have been made by supporters of the government. The aim is to shake up public opinion.

“Tweets opened the way for the Saudi government to accuse Muhammad bin Nayef of alleged Jabri corruption,” Reuters quoted the source as saying. The source added, this was a structured campaign that discredited Muhammad bin Nayef.

Because, the Crown Prince of SBM is trying to get rid of his rivals in replacing the position of King Salam. “They have been preparing documents against him since March,” one source said, quoted by Reuters, adding that those behind the Twitter campaign wanted to “tarnish its image at home”.

Before being fired, Muhammad bin Nayef was seen as the most capable of replacing the king. He briefly controlled the state security forces and developed close relations with western intelligence agents.

He was also known to be popular among conservatives. Even so, in March 2020, he was detained along with two other senior nobles at an undisclosed location. (FHD)
