Indonesia Shuts its Doors for Foreigners as of January 1, 2021

KNews.id- The Indonesian government announced the temporary closure of entrances for all foreign nationals (WNA) from all countries as of January 1, 2021. This policy is related to the emergence of a new variant of the virus that causes Covid-19 which is said to be spreading faster.
"It will temporarily close from January 1 to 14, 2021, the entry of foreigners from all countries to Indonesia," said Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi in a virtual press conference, Monday. This decision was made based on a limited cabinet meeting on the same day.
This rule is exempted for foreign state officials at the ministerial level and above and must be accompanied by strict implementation of the Covid-19 prevention protocol. Foreigners arriving in Indonesia today until December 31, 2020 are still allowed to enter with conditions.
They must bring a negative PCR test result from their home country which is valid a maximum of 2x24 hours before departure time, as well as a repeat PCR test after arriving in Indonesia. If proven negative in both PCR tests, the foreigner is asked to undergo mandatory quarantine for five days and after that he must return to undergo the PCR test.
"If the results are negative, visitors are allowed to continue their journey," said Foreign Minister Retno.
All Indonesian citizens (WNI) who want to return from abroad are allowed to enter with the same PCR test conditions as foreigners. (Ade)
