Encouraging Micropayment Transactions, BRI Facilitates Traders in Jakarta

KNews.id- PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BRI) continues to strive to increase the penetration of the micropayment transaction system in the community. One of BRI’s efforts is to invite and collaborate with merchants to start cashless transactions through the Indonesian Standard Quick Response Code (QRIS) instrument.

BRI Corporate Secretary, Aestika Oryza Gunarto said, recently BRI officially became a partner bank of Nuansa Koperasi Benhil Bersaudara which is located in Jakarta. Through this partnership, the company acts as a facilitator of non-cash transactions for around 70 traders around the BRI Head Office in the Bendungan Hilir (Benhil) area, Jakarta.

“BRI provides QRIS-based transaction facilities for dozens of traders in Benhil. The support we provide includes Android-based devices to all merchants, which can be used as a means of receiving payment notifications after the transaction has taken place. This activity is carried out at the same time in order to welcome BRI’s 125th anniversary which will fall on December 16, “said Aestika through her official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday 29 December 2020.

Through the embedding of BRI QRIS and giving android devices, traders in the Benhil area are expected to get used to it. future non-cash transactions. The form of cashless transactions must be put forward to simplify the calculation of cash flow for traders, and minimize the potential for Covid-19 transmission during the pandemic.

In addition to installing QRIS and providing Android devices, BRI also revitalized the Benhil area by repairing the canopy, constructing a wagon front fence, providing toilets, replacing lights, and repainting the dividing wall of the BRI Head Office area with the merchant locations.

“We also campaign for the implementation of QRIS-based non-cash transactions by making murals on the walls of places where traders sell in the Benhil area. BRI hopes that in the future more and more people will know about the QRIS system, and slowly start making non-cash transactions frequently. In addition, BRI will regularly hold gatherings with traders to support the sustainability of their business, “added Aestika.

QRIS is the standardization of payments using the QR Code method from Bank Indonesia to make the transaction process with QR Code easier, faster, and safer. With QRIS, people don’t have to bother making transactions using intermediaries from each available payment application. Merchants and buyers only need to scan the QR Code in one place to make transactions using all available payment services.

For information only, based on data from the Indonesian Payment System Association (ASPI), the value of QRIS transactions in September reached Rp. 800 billion, with the number of transactions made via QRIS last September reaching 10 million. QRIS service users in the same period reached five million merchants.

“BRI will continue to encourage public knowledge regarding cashless or non-cash transactions, especially QRIS, so that transactions using this integrated system continue to increase. With a simple and safe payment system through QRIS, businesses of MSME players can be helped to grow bigger. This growth will lead to a more positive pace of the national economy and improvement in the welfare of the community, “concluded Aestika. (Ade)
