KNews.id- The Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of PT Bank BRI Syariah Tbk agreed on the structure of the management of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk, the bank resulting from the merger of the company with PT Bank BNI Syariah (BNIS) and PT Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM). The management of Bank Syariah Indonesia consists of a Board of Directors, a Board of Commissioners, and a Sharia Supervisory Board.
In this new structure, Hery Gunardi is appointed as the President Director. Hery is none other than the Head of the Project Management Office for Integration and Value Improvement of BUMN Sharia Banks. Since this year, the man born in Bengkulu 58 years ago has also served as the President Director of Bank Syariah Mandiri.
Hery is not a new name in the banking world, a graduate of S1 from the Faculty of Commercial Administration, University of 17 August 1945, started his career as a banker with PT Bank Pembangunan Indonesia, which was later merged with three other banks to become Bank Mandiri in 1999.
As quoted from the official website of Bank Syariah Mandiri, Hery has been in various positions with Bank Mandiri. Before becoming President Director of Bank Syariah Mandiri, he was Deputy President Director of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk from February to October 2020.
Subsequently served as Director of Consumer & Retail Transaction from December 2019 to February 2020, Director of Business & Networks from May 2019 to December 2019, Director of Small Business & Networks from 2018 to 2019, and a number of other positions.
As President Director of Bank Syariah Indonesia, later Hery will be accompanied by two Deputy President Directors, including Ngatari and Abdullah Firman Wibowo. In addition, there are also Directors for Wholesale & Transaction Banking, Retail Banking, Sales & Distribution, Information Technology & Operations, Risk Management, Compliance & Human Capital, and Finance & Strategy.
Previously, BRIsyariah held an EGMS as one of the processes that must be passed in the process of merging three Islamic commercial banks owned by BUMN subsidiaries. The bank will operate after the completion of the merger process and approval for the merger will be obtained from the regulator with a new name, namely PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk.
The merged bank will merge effectively on February 1, 2021. The merger of BRIS, BNIS and BSM, said Mulyatno, was carried out to create a large-scale sharia bank to increase the penetration of sharia economy and finance in Indonesia.
The appointed management is also tasked with ensuring the integration process runs smoothly, providing the best service for customers and stakeholders, as well as realizing the vision of Bank Syariah Indonesia to become one of the largest Islamic banks in Indonesia and in the world. (AHM)
