KNews.id- Chairman of the Board of Commissioners (DK) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Wimboh Santoso is a figure who plays a role in the supervision and regulation of financial services activities in the banking sector, capital market sector, and the non-bank financial industry (IKNB) sector. 1. Career Paths of Wimboh
He started his career in 1984 by serving as a bank examiner and supervisor at Bank Indonesia. He then served as Director of the Directorate of Banking Regulation of BI for the period 2010-2012. He then received the mandate to become the head of representative of Bank Indonesia (BI) in New York in 2012.
Through the 2015 Bank Mandiri Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (EGMS), Wimboh was elected as the President Commissioner. Two years ago, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Commissioners (DK) of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for the 2017-2022 period. Apart from serving as Chairman of the OJK Board of Commissioners, in 2018 Wimboh was appointed as General Chair of the Sharia Economic Community (MES) for the 2018-2021 period.
2. Wimboh Capital, Experience and Economic Studies
Wimboh's success is based on his educational background which focuses on economics. He became a graduate of economics from the Faculty of Economics, Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta in 1983.
He then continued his studies in the Master of Science in Business Administration program at the University of Illinois, USA in 1991. This education was completed in September 1993. Not only that, Wimboh took a doctorate at Loughborough University, England, with a concentration study in Financial Economics in 1995.
3. An Important Person Behind Indonesia's Banking Reform
While serving as Director of the Directorate of Banking Research and Regulation, Wimboh applied the various economics he had received. Starting from risk management in good corporate governance, risk based supervision and transformation of the banking supervision sector at Bank Indonesia.
Another success of Wimboh is establishing a Financial System Stability unit at BI. As well as initiating the formation of the OJK and preparing for the establishment of a Financial System Safety Net in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance as the forerunner of the current OJK.
Wimboh was also noted to have participated in establishing the University of Indonesia's Master of Management program in the field of Risk Management in 2001. (AHM)
