The national capital development project (IKN) in Penajam Paser Utara (PPU), East Kalimantan has received attention from international media, especially from Europe and America. The Jokowi government is currently trying to build IKN.
However, the implementation of the development is not yet clear because the government is said to be still looking for investors to support the project in East Kalimantan. The search for investors is carried out because according to government calculations, the state budget is unable to cover development costs without an injection of funds from investors.
To overcome economic problems, the government then took steps to finance the development of IKN by means of crowdfunding, which again attracted controversy.IKN development is still reaping the pros and cons, both in terms of economy, politics, to customary lands. In fact, the IKN development plan has also been highlighted by the international media, which focuses on Indonesia’s economic condition.

Rocky Gerung mentioned that the media from Europe and America predicts that Indonesia will go bankrupt if the government continues to force the development of IKN.
